Till Lindemann is among the 40 or so VIPs invited to the Leipzig Opera Ball. Why an alliance clearly criticizes this.

The Leipzig alliance "Together against sexualized violence and abuse of power" has criticized the invitation of Rammstein singer Till Lindemann to the Leipzig Opera Ball. In an open letter, the alliance of associations, institutions and civil society actors called on the organizers to take social and moral responsibility and warned against sending a "fatal signal" to victims of sexualized violence. Legal harmlessness cannot provide moral relief, according to the letter, which has reportedly been signed by more than 180 players in Leipzig's cultural scene to date.

Lindemann is on the VIP list for this year's Opera Ball in Leipzig along with around 40 other guests from society, politics and business. Around 2,000 visitors are expected to attend the 30th anniversary edition next Saturday under the motto "Bienvenidos, Andalucía".

The 62-year-old Lindemann was at the center of serious allegations in 2023. Several women had made accusations against him, some of them anonymous. Lindemann had completely denied the allegations. In August 2023, the Berlin public prosecutor's office closed its investigation against the rock star due to a lack of sufficient suspicion.
