According to the German Donations Council, people in Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia have donated significantly less so far this year than in the previous year.

In the first nine months, a good 170 million euros were donated in the three federal states, according to a survey by the Donations Council. This was around seven percent less than in the same period last year (183.8 million euros).

The number of donors also decreased in the three federal states. While there were 1.2 million donors last year, there were only 1.0 million donors this year up to September. However, the amount of donations increased slightly - from 22 to 26 euros on average. Germany-wide, a total of 2.8 billion euros was donated in the first nine months, 14 percent less than in the same period last year. The results are based on a survey conducted by the market and opinion research institute Yougov on behalf of the German Donations Council.
