Vaccination commission in Germany gets a new member from Saxony

The Standing Vaccination Commission for Germany can rely on expertise from Saxony in future. Reinhard Berner and Thomas Grünewald, two doctors from the Free State of Saxony, have now been appointed to the committee, the Saxon Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday. Berner is Head of the Clinic and Polyclinic for Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine at Dresden University Hospital, Grünewald is Head of the Clinic for Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine at Chemnitz Hospital. Health Minister Petra Köpping (SPD) congratulated the two experts. "Both have provided the state government with outstanding professional advice and support, particularly during the coronavirus pandemic."

The Standing Committee on Vaccination is based at the Robert Koch Institute and develops vaccination recommendations for the population in Germany independently and on a voluntary basis. It is made up of 19 experts from various disciplines.
