Happy parents at the start of the new year: several New Year's babies were born in Saxony during the night. The DRK Hospital Chemnitz-Rabenstein recorded the first birth at 3.14 am, according to the hospital. Mother Maria and father Toni welcomed their daughter Anastasia into their family, weighing 3,490 grams and measuring 51 centimeters.
The first baby of the year took a little longer to arrive at Chemnitz Hospital: Lio was born at 5.55 am, the fourth child of his parents Nathalie and Steven. He weighed 2,790 grams and was 47 centimetres tall.
According to a statement, the maternity ward at Dresden University Hospital was very busy at the turn of the year. The first baby to be born in the new year was Lina at 6.45 a.m. weighing 3,275 grams.
