In the first half of 2025, the Saxon police became aware of a further nine suspected cases relating to right-wing extremism within its own ranks. Among other things, 15 officers are accused of "xenophobic statements", the use of banned symbols and slogans as well as bodily harm.
In one case from February, the Chemnitz public prosecutor's office is currently investigating the criminal use of symbols of unconstitutional and terrorist organizations, according to the Ministry of the Interior's answer to a small question from state parliament member Juliane Nagel (Left Party).
Fascist symbols and slogans sent in chat group
An employee of the riot police is alleged to have sent "fascist symbols and slogans" in a chat group for years. The Dresden public prosecutor's office discontinued the investigation, but dismissal proceedings "due to lack of character" are now being examined, it was reported.
Now 122 suspected cases
The Ministry of the Interior first provided detailed information on such incidents at the beginning of 2020 in response to a request from the Left Party. The data published since then brings the total number of known suspected cases to 122.
Minister of the Interior Armin Schuster (CDU) has repeatedly condemned such incidents. At the same time, he always put things into perspective: "However, I would also like to emphasize that of 15,500 police officers, over 99 percent have both feet firmly on the ground of our free democratic basic order," he said two years ago.
