The US Consulate General in Leipzig has a new head. Jodi Breisler took over as US Consul General in Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia in mid-October from her predecessor John R. Crosby, according to a statement from the mission. "I am very pleased to be here in Central Germany with its unique and diverse cultures and history," said Consul General Breisler. She is looking forward to exploring and deepening German-American relations in the region.
The former broadcast journalist, who has worked for Deutsche Welle among others, has reportedly been in the US government's diplomatic service since 2009. Prior to that, she worked in various roles for the US State Department in Algiers, Rome, London, Baghdad and Athens, as well as on the Executive Secretariat staff.
The Consulate General in Leipzig is one of five US consulates in Germany and looks back on a history of almost 200 years. In addition to performing administrative tasks, such as issuing passports or visas, the mission also cooperates with partners in the three countries, for example in the fields of business, culture and education.
