A modernized outdoor pool with a new indoor swimming pool has been officially opened in Delitzsch in northern Saxony. The construction of the Elberitzbad cost 24 million euros, the town announced. This makes it the largest municipal construction project in Delitzsch's history to date. 11 million euros came from a federal and state funding program.
The previous outdoor pool was renovated; a paddling pool was added to the children's pool. The new indoor swimming pool has a pool with five 25-meter lanes. A solar system and the use of rainwater for garden irrigation are intended to ensure sustainability.
The Elberitzbad has a long tradition. According to the city, there was an outdoor pool at the site as early as 1930.
