The investigation into a police officer who allegedly gave the Hitler salute at a party at Hohnstein Castle (Saxon Switzerland) has been dropped. The allegation has not been confirmed, the Dresden public prosecutor's office announced. It could not be ruled out that there had been a misunderstanding and that an arm movement or gesture had been misinterpreted.
The officer had been investigated on suspicion of using symbols of unconstitutional organizations. The investigation had only revealed that police officers had celebrated in plain clothes at Hohnstein Castle and had played the song "L'Amour Toujours" by Gigi D'Agostino at least once. The song, which is more than 20 years old, had been repeatedly accompanied by racist chants in the past.
