Their technology has been put through its paces and now the popular historic trains are ready for passengers again. Both lines will be back in operation from Saturday.

After the Dresden suspension railroad, the funicular will also start its winter season on the first weekend of Advent. The routine two-week fall overhaul will be completed on Friday, as announced by the Dresden transport company. The first departure will be on Saturday at 6:30 am.

From then on, both cable cars will be fully operational again and will run according to their regular winter timetable. According to the information provided, snowfall or black ice will not cause any problems. Staff will ensure safe access to the stations by clearing and blunting the paths.

Wobbly contact in data cable rectified

The inspection of the funicular railroad, which began on 17 November, included a visual inspection of the cable and an adjustment to the control technology. A loose contact in the network cable caused a brief standstill. The problem was rectified with a new cable.

The suspension monorail has already completed its overhaul. From November 3 to 14, the technicians checked the condition of the 33 steel supports and the track girder on which the two carriages are suspended. In addition to the technical check, cameras were installed on the carriage roofs for video surveillance of the track. These are intended to provide additional safety at the two intersections with roads with regard to the maximum height of passing vehicles.
