Upper Lusatia has founded its own tourism association. It brings together a total of 32 municipalities, companies and partners from the districts of Bautzen and Görlitz, as announced by the region's two district administrations. The association will gradually take over the tasks of the former Marketing-Gesellschaft Oberlausitz-Niederschlesien (MGO).
"With the Upper Lusatia Tourism Association, we are creating a stable foundation for the tourism development of our region," said Udo Witschas, District Administrator of the Bautzen district and new Chairman of the Board of the Upper Lusatia Tourism Association, according to the press release. With the new association, responsibility, financing and participation would be spread across broader shoulders, he said. Smaller municipalities in particular should benefit from central coordination and professional project management.
"Tourism investments are a central building block for the quality of life of local people and an important factor in attracting new residents to our region during structural change," added Stephan Meyer, District Administrator of the district of Görlitz and first Deputy Chairman of the Board.
