Interest in hunting is unbroken in Saxony. More and more women are taking up the hobby.

Since last year, almost 300 more people have been allowed to go stalking in Saxony. According to the state hunting association, the number of hunters in the state has continued to grow in line with the national trend. Accordingly, 14,531 people across the state held a valid hunting license at the end of 2024. The proportion of women with this hobby increased again and currently stands at 11% with 1,599. In 2023, there were still 14,244 hunting license holders.

Hunting is "so much more than just taking animals", said Minister of Agriculture Georg-Ludwig von Breitenbuch (CDU) before the State Hunters' Day in Siebenlehn. "It is conservation - for both fauna and flora and therefore an indispensable contribution to the preservation and development of our nature."

In 2024, 367 men and women passed the hunter's examination nationwide - 28 fewer than in the previous year.
