The two neighboring regions want to get even closer with new projects. Minister Klepsch sees culture and tourism as bridge builders.

Saxony wants to work more closely with the neighboring Polish region of Lower Silesia in the areas of culture and tourism in the future. The regions are linked by a long shared history and a rich cultural tradition, said Tourism Minister Barbara Klepsch (CDU) in a statement. "We want to maintain and deepen these long-standing relationships in the future." Culture and tourism are key bridge builders in this regard.

The inaugural visit by the Vice Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, Wojciech Bochnak, focused on the creation of a cross-border "European Route of Castles and Palaces". This is intended to expand an existing cooperation program. Another project in the border triangle, the "Via Sacra" cycling and hiking route, has now also been designed on the Polish side and creates a link to the existing routes in Germany and the Czech Republic.

Saxony and Lower Silesia have been linked by a regional partnership since 1999. There has been a Saxon liaison office in Lower Silesia's capital Wroclaw since 2012, and a Lower Silesian office also opened in Saxony in 2021.
