The Landsberg family brewery will cease production at the end of this year. "The developments of recent years and the outlook for the future unfortunately no longer hold any positive prospects for us," said the head of the family business, Jenny Thormann. "We will continue to produce until the end of the year and then the sale will take place." The "Mitteldeutsche Zeitung" had previously reported.
The first beer was bottled there in March 1997 - for Thormann's 14th birthday. Today, the market is different, the brewery boss knows: "Above all, very high energy costs, a sharp decline in beer consumption and the fact that we cannot pass on the massive increase in costs in almost all areas in recent years to the necessary extent are reasons that have led us to make this decision."
Thormann had taken over the management of the brewery and the malt factory in 2019 when her father died.
