Leipzig Zoo received hundreds of name suggestions. One clearly prevailed in the vote.

The Leipzig giraffe offspring has a name: The Rothschild giraffe, who is about two months old, has been christened "Moya", Leipzig Zoo announced. It means "heart" and is also appropriate because giraffes have the largest heart of all land mammals. Following an appeal, the zoo received more than 1,600 suggestions. In the subsequent online vote, "Moya" reportedly came out on top with 1,000 votes against a shortlist of six names.

The little giraffe was born in July to five-year-old Tamika. The gestation period of Rothschild's giraffes lasts around 14 months. At Leipzig Zoo, the giraffes live together with other animal species such as zebras, gazelles and antelopes in the Kiwara savannah.
