The trade union Verdi has called on employees of two Lufthansa subsidiaries in Dresden and Leipzig/Halle to go on a two-day warning strike. Several flights were canceled.

Travelers at Leipzig/Halle and Dresden Airports must be prepared for many restrictions until Friday. The trade union Verdi has called on employees of the Lufthansa subsidiaries Airport Service Dresden GmbH (ASD) and Airport Service Leipzig GmbH (ASL) to go on a two-day warning strike. Lufthansa had announced its intention to close both companies. Tasks such as aircraft handling are to be taken over by external service providers in future.

Verdi negotiator Paul Schmidt said: "It will be many months before the companies are wound up. We finally expect fair wages for this time." The wage negotiations are at a standstill. The union is demanding a wage increase of 850 euros for around 140 employees. This roughly corresponds to the gap compared to other Lufthansa locations. Verdi is also demanding 3,000 euros to compensate for inflation and the application of the Lufthansa collective wage agreement.

According to the flight schedule, four flights to Munich, three to Frankfurt, two to Zurich and one to Düsseldorf have already been canceled in Dresden on Thursday. In Leipzig, two flights to Frankfurt and one each to Vienna and Düsseldorf have been canceled.
