In the VW collective bargaining round, negotiations between VW and IG Metall will continue on Thursday. After another marathon session during the night, the talks will continue in the morning, according to participants. Negotiations continued until 4 am. Neither side initially provided any information on the status of the talks.
In participant circles, there is talk of tough negotiations. The two sides had already negotiated the previous night on Tuesday and then continued the talks on Wednesday after a break in the early afternoon.
Since Monday, representatives of Volkswagen and IG Metall have been struggling in Hanover to find a solution to the dispute over wage cuts, plant closures and redundancies. Both sides had previously expressed their desire to reach an agreement before Christmas. Around 70 representatives from the company and the union have taken up residence in a hotel in Hanover for what is now the fifth round of collective bargaining.
