There are currently 264,000 sheep being kept in Bavaria. This represents an increase of 4.1 percent compared to the previous year, the State Statistical Office announced on Friday. The animals are kept by around 2000 farmers. In a long-term comparison, however, the sheep population has declined: in 2013, 274,000 sheep were still grazing in the state. This represents a decrease of 3.6 percent. The number of owners fell by 13.9 percent in the same period.
