Deutsche Bahn and its partners in neighboring countries see great potential in international rail travel. A new direct connection is now being launched - with stops in three German cities.

Train travelers can now travel from Prague to Copenhagen via Berlin without changing trains. The trains also stop in Dresden and Hamburg on their journey, as can be seen on the Deutsche Bahn website. The train with the number RJ 384 departs Prague today at 6.31 am and arrives in Copenhagen as scheduled at 7.38 pm. It stops in Dresden as scheduled at 8.50 a.m. and at Berlin Central Station at 10.29 a.m. The journey from Copenhagen to Prague departs from the Danish capital at 8.22 am.

At the start of the service, there will be one train per day in each direction with a scheduled journey time of around 13 hours. The reason for this is the ongoing general refurbishment between Hamburg and Berlin. Like other long-distance trains, the new international connection must therefore be rerouted via Stendal and Uelzen. In addition, the train has a layover of around 80 minutes in Hamburg-Altona.

More trains per day and direction from mid-June

After completion of the general refurbishment, the layover and detour will be eliminated from June 14 and a second train per day and direction will be added, as a Deutsche Bahn spokesperson explained on request.

The new direct connection is a cooperation between Deutsche Bahn, the Danish state railroad DSB and the Czech railroad ČD. The new connection is the first of a total of ten pilot projects supported by the European Commission to promote cross-border rail connections.

The ČD ComfortJet will be used as the vehicle. The new trains have a maximum speed of 230 kilometers per hour and have 555 seats, 99 of which are in 1st class. There is also space on board for twelve bicycles.
