A car driver was driving more than one hundred kilometers per hour too fast and with an eleven-year-old child on board between Krostitz and Eilenburg (district of North Saxony). According to a statement, the 44-year-old caught the attention of officers in a civilian police vehicle on state road 4 on Wednesday evening because he was driving well above the speed limit. The man was also overtaking illegally. The police stopped him and confiscated his driver's license.
The police are now investigating for illegal motor vehicle racing. According to a spokeswoman, another vehicle was not involved, but this offense does not only include racing with other road users. Anyone who drives in gross violation of traffic regulations and recklessly in order to achieve the highest possible speed must also expect a sentence of up to two years in prison. If you endanger others, you could face up to five years in prison. If people are seriously injured or even killed as a result, they could face up to ten years in prison. A maximum of one hundred kilometers per hour is permitted on state roads outside built-up areas.
