Minister President Kretschmer sees the trip to Asia as a success for Saxony's economy and science. The focus was particularly on microelectronics.

After his trip to Asia, Minister President Michael Kretschmer (CDU) has drawn a positive conclusion. The many constructive discussions had helped to further expand Saxony's international economic and scientific relations and forge new partnerships for future technologies, Kretschmer said in a statement. "The trip underlines Saxony's claim to be a bridge builder between Europe and Asia."

Trip to Taiwan, Japan and Singapore

In the past week, Kretschmer visited Taiwan, Japan and Singapore. The focus was on market development and export promotion for Saxon companies, particularly in the semiconductor industry, mechanical engineering and mobility and environmental technologies. The aim was also to find potential investors.

The event kicked off with a visit to the Taiwanese chip giant TSMC, which is establishing its first European site in Dresden. At the Saxon-Taiwanese science conference in Taipei, the focus was on expanding the research partnership and training specialists for microelectronics. In Japan, Kretschmer was a guest at the Saxon Day at Expo 2025 in Osaka. The trip came to an end in Singapore. There, Kretschmer held talks with Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and Minister of Trade and Industry Kim Yong Gan on expanding partnerships in the fields of quantum research, microelectronics and sustainable industry.
