Fuel, air travel or the purchase of bicycles: Consumer prices in Saxony are falling compared to the previous month.

The inflation rate in Saxony is once again well below the three percent mark. According to preliminary figures, the annual inflation rate in August was 2.6 percent, as reported by the State Statistical Office in Kamenz. In July, the figure had risen to 3.1 percent, after 2.8 percent in June.

In August 2024, consumer prices in Saxony are expected to remain below the level of the previous month (-0.2 percent) for the first time since November 2023. In addition to lower fuel prices (-2.7 percent), this was due to good offers for the purchase of motorcycles (-1.0 percent) and bicycles (-1.3 percent) as well as passenger air transport (-7.6 percent).
