A freight train and a locomotive collided in Leipzig on Friday morning. Four people on board were slightly injured. One person was taken to hospital as a precaution, according to a spokesperson for the federal police. The "Bild" newspaper first reported on the incident.
The freight train and the locomotive were traveling slowly at around 20 to 25 kilometers per hour at the time of the collision. There were no effects on passenger services, a spokesperson for the railroad said. How the collision in the Schönefeld district came about was initially unclear and is the subject of investigations. The operation at the scene of the accident continued in the afternoon.
