The electronics manufacturer Technisat is closing its plant in Vogtland and relocating production to Poland. As a result, 70 people will lose their jobs by the end of the year. The company, based in Rhineland-Palatinate, justified the move in a press release with high energy and rising personnel costs as well as "complex regulatory requirements". These conditions make it difficult for medium-sized companies in particular to maintain production sites in Germany economically. The "Freie Presse" had previously reported on the move.
Price pressure in consumer electronics
According to Managing Director Stefan Kön, there is high price pressure in consumer electronics. "Unfortunately, the 'Made in Germany' factor is often no longer a sufficient incentive to buy if it means higher prices." To date, entertainment and receiver electronics as well as printed circuit boards have been produced in Schöneck. These include digital radios. During the coronavirus pandemic, Technisat also manufactured protective masks there.
Technisat, based in Daun in the Eifel region, has been operating the production facility in Schöneck since the early 1990s. While the site in Saxony will be closed, the plant in Poland will be systematically expanded, it said. Socially acceptable solutions are to be found for the employees in Vogtland. The exact nature of these was not disclosed.
