A 23-year-old driver in Zwickau tried to flee after a traffic accident and then put up considerable resistance to police officers. According to the Zwickau police department, he drove his car onto the other lane in a right-hand bend in the Oberplanitz district and collided with an oncoming car. The 83-year-old driver suffered serious injuries and her passenger (77) was slightly injured.
Three officers slightly injured by driver
The 23-year-old initially wanted to flee the scene of the accident and then refused to give his personal details during the course of the accident investigation and put up considerable resistance, the police said. He slightly injured three officers, a 21-year-old woman, a 21-year-old man and a 36-year-old man. "Due to his exceptional mental state, he was forcibly admitted. He also suffered minor injuries." The officers ordered a blood sample to be taken. It was suspected that he was under the influence of intoxicating substances, they said.
The 23-year-old was charged with endangering road traffic, hit-and-run, negligent bodily harm and assault on law enforcement officers. According to the police, the damage amounts to an estimated 18,000 euros.
