Despite the chip crisis, there will be no production stops at Volkswagen next week. The supply of the affected chips from the manufacturer Nexperia is secured until at least the end of next week, a company spokesperson confirmed. The "Handelsblatt" had previously reported this. This also applies to the subsidiaries Audi, Porsche and VW Commercial Vehicles, said the spokesperson when asked. However, the situation is "dynamic", so short-term effects cannot be ruled out.
Nexperia is experiencing supply problems after the Dutch government took control of the company, which is run by a Chinese parent company. China subsequently stopped exporting Nexperia products such as chips for the automotive industry. The background to this is the trade dispute between the USA and China. However, there have been no production stops at German car manufacturers as a result.
