The discount grocery chain Lidl is recalling two varieties of Spanish chorizo sausage. According to Lidl, the affected products are “Martínez Somalo Chorizo BBQ” and “Martínez Somalo Chorizo BBQ Picante Spicy,” each containing 375 grams. The sausages were sold at Lidl stores nationwide, according to the discounter, which is headquartered in Bad Wimpfen (Baden-Württemberg).
According to the discounter, the reason for the recall is a possible break in the cold chain. Consequently, it cannot be guaranteed that the stated best-by dates will be met. Consumers are advised not to eat these products. The recall affects products with the following best-by dates: November 28, 2026; December 5, 2026; December 12, 2026, December 19, 2026, and December 26, 2026. Other products from the manufacturer Hijo de José Martínez Somalo, S.L., are not affected.
According to the information provided, customers can return the sausages to any store even without a receipt and will receive a refund of the purchase price.
