With nearly 30 events, Deutsche Bahn is celebrating a "Rail Day" in Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia from September 15 to 17. The prelude for the region southeast forms a rally with special trains to Leipzig as well as the central German railroad summit with panel discussions, as the German course (DB) communicated on Tuesday.
In the Saxon Heidenau there is information about the planning of the longest railroad tunnel of Germany. Drill cores are also shown, which were taken for the geological investigations. At the DB training center in Leipzig-Connewitz, visitors can observe the control of train traffic and learn about the maintenance of signals, equipment and tracks. In addition, the ICE plant in Leipzig opens its doors. There, employees make 25 trains fit for passengers again every day after their deployment. In Dresden, welding work and large track work vehicles are on display.
In Saxony-Anhalt, DB invites visitors to a discovery day in Sangerhausen. Visitors will learn that some switches have heating or how an overhead line is built and maintained. In Magdeburg, everything revolves around the maintenance of freight cars and locomotives. The world of railroad construction opens in Königsborn and the Halle freight station opens its doors with locomotive rides, vehicle demonstrations by the Technical Relief Organization and a children's program.
