Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia are taking part in the nationwide Short Film Day. From 15 to 21 December, the Short Film Day invites people of all generations to discover the diversity of the short format, according to the organizers. According to them, 75 events have already been registered.
"Short Film Day is a wonderful opportunity for us to present our work and get into conversation with people who are interested in diversity and openness, and to come together through queer films," says organizer Lea Ziesler from QueerWeg in Jena, describing the initiative.
The short film can take place anywhere, according to the organizers: In cinemas as well as in unusual places, such as Christmas markets, schools or even in your own living room. The motto of this year's Short Film Day is "NOW!". The organizers are calling on people to "get active, take a look, get involved." It stands for the urgency of "telling and shaping stories now."
Idea comes from France
The idea of a short film day originated in France in 2011 and came to Germany a year later. There are currently already over 300 events scheduled, including 56 in Saxony, 9 in Thuringia and 10 in Saxony-Anhalt. Further registrations are still possible until shortly before the start.
