Hollywood star Dustin Hoffman has been awarded the Crystal Globe at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival for his outstanding contributions to world cinema. The 88-year-old accepted the award in person at the opening ceremony of the international film festival in the Czech spa town of Karlovy Vary. This Saturday, Hoffman will present his 1967 debut film, *The Graduate*, in which he played the lead role of college graduate Benjamin Braddock, who is seduced by an older woman.
The 60th edition of the film festival runs through July 11. Founded in 1946, the festival—which initially alternated with its Moscow counterpart—is one of the oldest in the world. Every summer, the festival attracts tens of thousands of visitors from Germany and abroad to Karlovy Vary, which is located about 100 kilometers east of Bayreuth and 70 kilometers south of Chemnitz.
