The Dresden State Art Collections are struggling with a hacker attack. However, the security system is fully functional and the museums remain open to visitors, according to the museum association. However, the online store and visitor service are currently unavailable.
The cyber attack occurred on Wednesday. "Large parts of the digital infrastructure are affected," it said. An internal crisis team has started work. "IT specialists and IT forensics service providers are working in parallel to clean up and rebuild the systems." The art collections are coordinating closely with the Dresden Police Directorate and the State Office of Criminal Investigation. It is not foreseeable when all affected systems will be available again.
The Dresden State Art Collections are an association of 15 museums. These include the Green Vault in Dresden's Royal Palace, the Old Masters Picture Gallery in the Zwinger and the New Masters Gallery in the Albertinum.
