In the view of Minister President Michael Kretschmer, Saxony can play a leading role in establishing circular economy processes in the future. "The Free State of Saxony has the best prerequisites, both nationally and internationally," said the CDU politician on Wednesday during a visit to the TU Bergakademie Freiberg. "Whether in car recycling, battery recycling, the use of innovative building materials or pharmacology - Saxony's economy and science are successfully making their way into the circular economy."

The chairman of the Saxony Innovation Advisory Council, Wolfgang Herrmann, also believes that Saxony's economy and science have great potential to successfully make the transition into the age of circular economy. The basic prerequisite for this are many well-trained scientific, engineering and technical specialists in the Free State.

Until 2027, the EU supports projects of the circular economy in Saxony with more than 70 million euros. In addition, there are from the state government for the projects in the same period more than 18 million euros from the state budget as co-financing.
