More runners, more enthusiasm - and a pre-race program on Saturday for the first time
The 25th DRESDEN-MARATHON is already making history before the start: over 10,000 runners have registered for the anniversary edition on Sunday, 26 October 2025 - more than ever before. In order to meet the high demand, the children's marathon and the five-kilometer run will take place for the first time on Saturday, 25 October.
Record participation for the anniversary
For a quarter of a century, the Dresden Marathon has been one of the sporting highlights of the state capital. This year's edition is already breaking all registration records. In addition to the classic marathon, there will also be half marathon, 10-kilometer and relay competitions. Particularly popular: the new five-kilometre run for beginners and families.
Traffic restrictions on the marathon weekend
Between 6 am and 4.30 pm on marathon Sunday, there will be extensive traffic restrictions in the city center and in districts such as Innere Neustadt, Äußere Neustadt, Radeberger Vorstadt, Striesen, Blasewitz, Johannstadt and Gruna.
Diversions will be signposted - shorter closure times are not possible due to the route. Road users should plan for longer routes or avoid the city center. An overview map of the affected roads is available on the organizer's website.

Saturday dedicated to young runners
The day before, the stage belongs to the young and ambitious runners: The children's marathon and the 5-kilometer run will take place between 3.30 pm and 5.30 pm around the Sportpark Ostra. The streets affected include Weißeritzstraße, Pieschener Allee, Messering, Schlachthofstraße, Rudolf-Harbig-Weg/Elberadweg, Ostra-Ufer, Devrientstraße and Terrassenufer. There will also be temporary road closures here.
Digital help and information for pedestrians
For the first time, all traffic restrictions will be displayed directly in online navigation systems - promptly and up-to-date. The DVB app (DVB mobil) also provides information about changes to routes and timetable deviations.
Pedestrians should be patient: Crossing the running route is only possible to a limited extent for safety reasons. Numerous traffic lights along the route will remain deactivated. Streetcar crossings are also not signalized - special caution is required here.
