The two millionth Porsche has rolled off the production line at the Leipzig plant of Stuttgart-based car manufacturer Porsche. A conversion of the plant is to ensure even more variety in the future.

The two millionth Porsche manufactured in the trade fair city has rolled off the production line at the Porsche plant in Leipzig. The 680 hp golden saloon was built for a customer in Dubai, the company announced on Monday. All new vehicles are manufactured at the Leipzig plant. In total, the workforce there reportedly numbers more than 4,400 employees.

In the past, the plant, which opened in 2002, was also converted to be able to produce electric cars and axles. In future, three drive types - combustion, electric and hybrid - are to be manufactured on one line. The first all-electric Macan model is due to be delivered to a customer next year. During daily production, a total of 550 vehicles are currently being manufactured at the Leipzig plant.
