The number of balcony power plants in Saxony rose by almost a quarter (22.5 percent) in the first half of the year. At the end of June, 55,842 of these systems were registered with the Federal Network Agency - 10,253 more than at the end of 2024. The actual number is likely to be slightly higher, as there is a one-month deadline for late registrations and not all systems are registered despite being mandatory. With a figure of 26.5 installations per 1,000 households, Saxony is above the national average (just under 25).
With regard to Germany as a whole, the million mark has now been broken for balcony power plants. At the end of June, 1,009,390 of these systems were registered. This means that the number grew by more than 220,000 in the first six months, which is roughly the same level as the previous year.
Carsten Körnig from the German Solar Industry Association also does not see any significant slowdown so far: "Plug-in solar devices continue to enjoy great popularity. We expect demand to remain high." The main drivers are the legal simplifications that were passed under the last German government and the fact that prices for the systems have fallen in the meantime.
