Delays and cancellations after theft on railroad line

After a theft of non-ferrous metal in the Bitterfeld area, there are considerable restrictions on rail traffic in Saxony-Anhalt and Saxony. Several S-Bahn lines between Halle, Dessau and Leipzig as well as the RE 13 regional express train are affected, according to a Deutsche Bahn spokesperson. Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk (MDR) had previously reported.

According to the report, the disruption occurred on Tuesday evening at around 22:00. The effects are expected to continue into the evening hours.

Cancellations and replacement services on local services

On local services, individual S-Bahn connections are canceled or delayed. A replacement bus service has been set up for affected routes. Travelers should allow extra time and find out about their connection before setting off.

Long-distance services also affected

There are also noticeable effects on long-distance services. According to Deutsche Bahn, there are delays of up to ten minutes on various connections via Halle and Leipzig. Further details on the extent of the damage were not initially available.
