A senior citizen has driven his car into a ditch near Meerane (Zwickau district) and been fatally injured. The 72-year-old passenger of the 73-year-old man got out of the car during a short stop on Friday, the police said. The car suddenly drove into the side ditch opposite, spun around and came to a halt. The driver died at the scene of the accident. According to the police, the road was closed for three hours.
