Saxony and Arizona Want to Connect the Semiconductor Industry
Saxony aims to make it easier for companies to access the U.S. semiconductor market. “Saxon companies will gain better access to one of the most important semiconductor markets in the U.S.,” said Thomas Horn, managing director of the Saxony Economic Development Agency (WFS). The WFS and the Arizona Commerce Authority, the economic development agency of the U.S. state of Arizona, aim to foster closer ties between companies and institutions in both regions in the future. Both organizations used the Semicon West trade show, held October 13–15 in San Francisco, to explore potential collaborations, according to a statement from the WFS. The WFS did not specify any concrete agreements or joint projects. According to WFS, Arizona has attracted more than 70 expansion and new-location projects in the semiconductor industry since 2020, with a total investment volume of over 314 billion U.S. dollars. These include projects in chip manufacturing, equipment and materials, as well as in research and chip packaging. Copyright 2026, dpa (www.dpa.de). All rights reserved
