Politicians are increasingly putting together packages. In many places there are packages of measures, financial packages or a pension package. There is now a package for the future for the Saxon economy.

Saxony wants to give new impetus to the economy in the Free State. Economics Minister Dirk Panter (SPD) presented a "Future Package I" to this end. It bundles concrete plans to reduce bureaucracy, speed up start-ups and promote SMEs and skilled trades. Every stone is to be turned in order to abolish superfluous regulations, said the minister.

Economic development has also stagnated in Saxony in recent years, Panter emphasized. There was no positive trend in the number of jobs subject to social insurance contributions. The unemployment rate has a seven before the decimal point. Some people are of the opinion that we are already in a storm. However, not everything is bad.

Saxony must take a good look at itself

"We don't want to lament towards the federal government and the EU. We are looking at what we can do in Saxony," said the minister. We need to look at our own nose. The Free State is a strong business location. However, times are currently difficult economically. That is why our top priority is to maintain and strengthen value creation and employment in Saxony.

The "gold-plating" of regulations is history

Saxony wants to use simplifications in the federal-state program GRW (Joint Task "Improvement of the Regional Economic Structure") to also streamline the Saxon part and simplify the implementation of funding. "Gold plating is history in Saxony. The Free State will deliberately forego additional special Saxon regulations in future," said Panter.

Master craftsman bonus to rise to 3,000 euros

In order to strengthen the skilled trades, the bonus for all master craftsman qualifications is to rise to 3,000 euros from 2026. It currently stands at 2,000 euros. This year, this will result in additional costs of just under one million euros, said Panter. In Saxony, almost 40 percent of registered business owners are over 55 years old, and around 19,000 businesses will have to be handed over in the next ten years.

First successes in reducing bureaucracy

Panter referred to initial successes in reducing bureaucracy. The early destruction of project files from the EU Structural Fund ESF - a total of almost 1.4 kilometers of files - saved at least 150,000 euros, which would have been required for further storage.

Company formations should be possible within 24 hours

Company formations should be possible within 24 hours in future thanks to digitalization, as promoted by the federal government. Until now, approval procedures have taken between four and six weeks on average. The Minister of Economic Affairs made it clear that the future package is just the beginning. More would follow, he emphasized.
