According to the Saxon Crafts Association, the relief premium is jeopardizing social peace. "The vast majority of companies will not pay it because they are currently unable to do so economically," said Uwe Nostitz, President of the Saxon Crafts Association. He called on the federal government not to implement the relief premium. Instead, he said that the skilled trades businesses needed permanent and substantial relief in terms of taxes, duties and bureaucracy.
The federal government had held out the prospect of a relief bonus due to the sharp rise in oil prices as a result of the war in Iran. Employers are to be given the opportunity to pay out a tax and duty-free bonus of up to 1,000 euros in the current year. As things stand, the payment should not be mandatory.
