The Thuringian technology group Jenoptik is purchasing equipment for its new plant in Dresden from a manufacturer in Jena. Vistec Electron Beam GmbH (Jena) will supply an electron beam lithography system for the production of micro-optical components for customers in the semiconductor industry and optical communication, Jenoptik AG announced on Wednesday at the company's headquarters in Jena. A low double-digit million euro amount will be invested in equipment at the Dresden factory currently under construction.

The system will be delivered at the beginning of next year. According to Jenoptik, it has had a production facility in Dresden since 2007. The new factory will bundle the production spread across several small external locations and expand capacities. Around 120 people will be employed in Dresden in the future. According to Jenoptik, the company employs a total of around 4400 people. Dresden is a center of the chip industry in Germany.
