At the start of the autumn vacations in Saxony and Thuringia, motorists must prepare for traffic jams on the weekend. Delays and traffic jams are to be expected especially in the conurbations of Magdeburg and Halle/Leipzig, as well as the main traffic routes, the ADAC announced on Thursday.

It will be tight already on Friday afternoon, when commuters are on the road. Also on Saturday morning, there are likely to be more traffic jams, because many then start on vacation. The autumn vacations in Saxony and Thuringia begin on Monday.

Mostly short holidaymakers also used Monday as a bridge day for a long weekend before the Day of German Unity. ADAC expects traffic jams especially at construction sites on the highways, such as on the A2 between the junctions Theeßen and Magdeburg-Rothensee or on the A9 between the junctions Vockerode and Coswig.
