Saxon farmers are to receive this year's EU direct payments just in time for Christmas. Around 7,000 farms will be supported with a total of 204.5 million euros, as announced by the Saxon Ministry of Agriculture in Dresden. According to the information, they farm a total area of around 890,000 hectares.
The direct payments are part of EU agricultural funding and include income support, payments for suckler cows, ewes and suckler goats as well as for voluntary environmental and climate protection measures. The aim is to secure farmers' income even in the event of economic fluctuations. The money is to land in the accounts on December 24th.
