Restrictions between Halle and Magdeburg

Train travelers between Halle and Magdeburg must be prepared for restrictions due to construction work from 24 November to 1 December 2023. The Köthen junction will be equipped with modern control and safety technology during this time, Deutsche Bahn announced on Monday. It will be necessary to close the line between the Halle junction and Niemberg.

There will be timetable changes to long-distance and local services from Friday evening. For example, trains on the regional express line 30 Magdeburg-Köthen-Halle will be canceled during the day in various sections between Sachsendorf and Halle and will reportedly be replaced by buses.

Trains on the IC line Norddeich Mole-Hannover-Magdeburg-Leipzig will be rerouted between Magdeburg and Leipzig from November 27. The journey time will be extended by around 30 minutes. The stop in Köthen will be omitted. Trains on the IC line Stuttgart-Cologne-Hanover-Magdeburg-Dresden will be rerouted between Magdeburg and Leipzig and will not stop at Leipzig/Halle Airport, Halle or Köthen.
