High speed and drugs in his blood: a 20-year-old flees from the police at night on a souped-up e-bike.

Police in Vogtland have pulled an intoxicated 20-year-old on a tuned e-bike out of traffic. After he evaded a check in Auerbach later on Saturday evening, officers stopped him on his way to the neighboring community of Ellefeld, according to a statement.

They discovered that his electric bike had been modified with a second battery and a drive with a hand throttle. An initial test revealed that the vehicle could accelerate up to 60 kilometers per hour. The vehicle was seized

The 20-year-old was also under the influence of drugs. Blood was taken from him in hospital. He was charged with driving without a license, driving a motor vehicle under the influence of intoxicating substances and a violation of the compulsory insurance law.
