Verkehrsverbund Mittelsachsen is increasing the prices for a number of tickets on April 1. However, many subscription users will be spared.

Many bus and train users in the Central Saxony Transport Association (VMS) will have to pay more from April 1. Fares will rise by an average of 2.4 percent across all fare products, according to the VMS.

In future, a single journey for a fare zone will cost 3.30 euros, an increase of 10 cents. The move, which was decided by the association's assembly in November, was justified by additional costs for personnel and materials, for example.

The VMS covers the districts of Zwickau, Central Saxony and Erzgebirge as well as the city of Chemnitz. For many users of subscription tickets, the price will remain the same, it said. In addition to the Deutschland-Ticket, these include the education ticket and the senior citizens' ticket, as well as monthly season tickets at price level 1. According to the VMS, around 75 percent of passengers use season tickets.
