Anyone traveling on regional rail services from Saxony-Anhalt via Thuringia to Hesse or vice versa in the near future should expect changes. The reason for this is the closure of a rail junction.

Travelers on the route between Halle and Kassel have had to prepare for considerable restrictions in rail traffic since Friday. As points are being renewed at Leinefelde station in Thuringia, there will be many changes between Nordhausen and Kassel up to and including March 28, according to the rail company Abellio. During the same period, construction work between Halle and Sangerhausen will also cause the S-Bahn line S 7 and the regional express line RE 9 to be canceled in the evening and at night. Buses and cabs will be available as a replacement.

On the route between Nordhausen and Kassel, regional express trains (RE) 8 and 9 will only run to or from Sollstedt. The REs also serve smaller stops along the way. The regional train on line 57 between Nordhausen and Heilbad Heiligenstadt will be discontinued. Buses will run between Sollstedt and Eichenberg as a replacement. Replacement buses will also run between Leinefelde and Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe, but without intermediate stops.
