Free Admission for Kids: How an anonymous person is putting smiles on faces at the Wostra outdoor pool in Dresden.

A nice surprise for young visitors to the outdoor pool in Dresden: An anonymous benefactor is covering admission to the Wostra outdoor pool for children and teens during summer vacation. The offer applies to young visitors up to and including age 17, said Lars Kühl, spokesperson for Dresdner Bäder. Several media outlets had previously reported on this.

The benefactor contacted the facility before the summer break and said he wanted to do something nice for children and teenagers, Kühl reported. The condition is that the person remain anonymous. For this reason, the pool operators do not want to make a big deal out of the initiative. “The kids come, are surprised that they don’t have to pay anything—and are delighted,” said Kühl.

A similar story recently came to light in Schwalmstadt, Hesse: There, too, a man who wishes to remain anonymous is funding admission to the local swimming pool for children and teenagers during the summer break. He has enough money, he said: “You can’t take it with you when you go. So you might as well spend it on things like this once in a while.”
