FC Erzgebirge Aue won their final game of the third division season. The Erzgebirge won 4:2 (2:1) at fellow relegated side 1. FC Schweinfurt, ensuring that the hosts will go down as the worst relegated team in the history of the third division with just 21 points. The hosts had taken the lead through Sebastian Müller (27'). Marcel Bär (35) with a penalty and Erik Weinhauer (45.+2) turned the game around before the break. Schweinfurt equalized 2:2 with a penalty from Johannes Geis (63'), but Bär again (68') and Jannic Ehlers (70') with a double strike put Aue back on the winning track.
In a game in which nothing was at stake, both teams played some decent attacking soccer. After Schweinfurt took the surprising lead - Müller simply shot from 16 meters out and dinked the ball into the far corner - the Erzgebirge side began to exert more pressure. As a result, the hosts made mistakes, which Aue exploited to score two goals.
After the changeover, Schweinfurt pressed for the equalizer. The Violets were relatively secure at the back, but not much was possible going forward. The balls were hit long to the front, where Bär and Julian Guttau were often at a loss. The equalizer was not undeserved, but shook the Saxons up once again. Aue proved to be very efficient in converting the bigger chances. Bär completed the double after a well-worked attack and Ehlers finished off the scoring with a beautiful volley.
