The Niners Chemnitz, a team in the German Basketball Bundesliga, has recorded its first win of this EuroCup season. Coach Rodrigo Pastore’s team defeated Neptunas Klaipeda 93–84 (57–39) in front of a home crowd on Wednesday evening. Mateo Seric and Cobe Williams were Chemnitz’s top scorers with 17 points each. The Niners got off to a blistering start and pulled ahead early, 13–2 (4th minute). With aggressive defense, they forced the Lithuanians into difficult shots and transitioned quickly after stealing the ball. Because their three-point shooting was also better than in recent games, the hosts led 31–15 after the first quarter. The Niners also quickly overcame a slump at the start of the second quarter and held a comfortable lead again at halftime. After the break, however, the hosts’ concentration waned significantly. Even a timeout called by Pastore with the score at 66–62 (27th minute) brought only a brief improvement. Midway through the final quarter, Klaipeda tied the score at 77–77. Chemnitz, however, countered with a 9–2 run to make it 86–79 (37th minute) and fended off the visitors’ final surge. Copyright 2026, dpa (www.dpa.de). All rights reserved
