The SC DHfK Leipzig handball team missed the hoped-for escape in the Bundesliga. However, the team of Head Coach Raul Alonso at least secured a point after trailing for a long time in the basement duel at Bergischer HC with the score at 28:28 (15:14). Lucas Krzikalla was the best scorer with nine goals for SC DHfK, which remains bottom of the table with 2:18 points behind BHC (3:17).
The home side quickly found its rhythm in attack and led 7:5 after eleven minutes. Leipzig then clamped down much better in defense and took the lead for the first time at 13:12 in the 28th minute in what was a fiercely contested encounter.
The BHC started the second half with more energy and pulled 22:19 ahead by the 44th minute. The BHC maintained this lead for a long time, but found it increasingly difficult against the visitors' 5:1 defense. Leipzig closed the gap to two goals in the final four minutes, with Tom Koschek scoring with 37 seconds remaining to make the final score.
